Absence types

Employees request absences under Requests; approvers decide under Admin → Requests (see Requesting and approving absences). Each type of absence counts differently towards the working-time target and the vacation account.

Besides vacation, sick leave, special leave, home office and business trips, Klokk knows parental leave, maternity protection, educational leave, child sick leave and short-time work, plus time off in lieu.

  • Target freed: approved vacation, sick leave and the leave types above free the day’s target — no minus hours arise. Half days free half the target.
  • Vacation days: only vacation uses vacation days; home office, business trips and special leave never do.
  • Time off in lieu: the target of the day stays, the hours taken off come off the time account.
  • Display: approved absences show on the respective day in the time overview and on the dashboard.
  • Own calendar: under Requests the calendar shows each absence in the colour of its kind — vacation, sickness, home office or business trip, unexcused absence, other — and its status as an icon: a tick for approved, a clock with a dashed border for “awaiting approval”.
  • Unexcused absence: a binding working day without a time entry and without an approved or requested absence is booked as unexcused absence the following night; a rejected request does not prevent this. Recording working time for the day later — added, corrected or by bulk entry — removes the booking again. Under Admin → Companies the booking can be turned off or given waiting days (up to 30).

Per company: under Admin → Companies a super admin chooses which types employees can request; vacation and sick leave are always available. The leave form and the REST API offer only these types (/api/v1/me lists them as absence_types). Existing absences of a type switched off are kept and keep their type when edited.
